Psalm 97
I am actually trying to go straight through the bible and read every book. I believe that all the word of God is important, and I want to read through it all. I am hoping that the Lord will teach me more and more. Today I read through several Psalms, trying to figure out where I left off. Seeing as I have my bookmark on the page where Psalm 97 is first, I will begin there. (Can you tell I left off this for a while?) This is a psalm of praise. It starts off talking about the Lord reigning on the earth. I am so grateful to know that the Lord is in charge. Verse 2 says that "righteousness and judgement are the habitation of his throne." I know that this is so, and I am grateful too. I love the Lord because he is completely holy, with no sin. I am eternally grateful (literally) that he has laid judgement for my sins on Jesus, so I know that in all righteousness, I am free. Free of all sin and judgement, because the Lord Jesus has paid it all! The last verse is also important to me right now. Verse 12 says "Rejoice in the LORD,ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness". Of course this goes back to a couple of days ago, when I was saying that I need to be in the mode of thanksgiving. Refer back to 1Thessalonians 5 for a discussion of Christian thankfulness. I may just go back and read all of 1 Thessalonians, and try to stay with my Psalms also. Thank you Jesus for this time!
