Who I am, Really

I just got done visiting a blog called Far Above Rubies, that is written by Shannon. She had a post about some of the things that she wanted to make known about herself, mostly as a Christian. I think that is a great idea, so I am going to copy her, and do a post about the most important things to me in my Christian walk.

1. There can be nothing, and no one, more important than Jesus. He is our redeemer. He has cleansed me and made me whole, and holy. Before God I am righteous only because of Jesus innocent blood, which he spilled for me.

2. Which version of the bible? For me the jury is still out. The big thing for me is that every version of the bible besides the KJV is copywritten. That means if I would like to copy several pages of the bible and send it to my brother every week, I could only do this out of the KJV legaly without getting written permission from the copywrite holder. This is God's word we are talking about here. Since God gave it freely to us, should we not be free to share it with others?

3. Skirts....I love the idea of being separate in the world, of being visibly different. I think I would like to go to skirts full time, but my husband prefers pants. So, since there is no command in the bible to wear skirts, but there is to honor my husband, I wear mostly pants. I try to be visualy separate from the world by wearing modest clothing that hopefully will not cause one of my brothers in Christ to stumble.

4. Home cooked meals, and Nourishing Traditions. I love to cook. I love to have home cooked healthy meals around, but I refuse to be a captive to the kitchen. The Lord does give me an awesome responsibility to care for my family, and I want to also, but when I can't, I will give it to God and do what I am able. For my sons sake, I know I need to make my best efforts to make healthy meals, to help him focus better in school, and keep him off drugs (ritalin).

5. TV..... Here is a touchy subject, because when it comes to christians and television, you will get a full gamut of responses. The biggest thing for me is that as christians we should not delight in evil, and there is a lot of evil on the television, by God's standards. So to me, I will watch some TV, but I try to remember, I don't want to condone sin by watching it, so if I see sin I try to change the channel, or turn it off.

6. Homeschool... Ican see the inherent benefits, but my DH has said the kids will attend public school. Again, the Lord has called me to honor my DH, so I will obey him in this, prayerfully, and with a joyful heart.

Maybe I will add more later. What a cool way to get to know one another.
